Situated in the
Tweed River area in Northern New South Wales is the company Madura
Tea which was started in 1978 by Mike and Norma Grant-Cook. Mike was
a third generation tea planter from Ceylon who decided to bring his
skills to Australia and find a sub-tropical region similar to a successful
tea growing region in India he was familiar with (Assam) to create
his own unique style. After much work the Madura plantation is thriving
under strict environmental controls where teas are blended both from
Madura’s own quality estate grown teas and carefully selected
imported tea.
The Madura team uses an Australian Government laboratory to carefully monitor all stages of production and packaging to maintain zero chemical, pesticide and bacteria buildups to protect consumers and the environment. As the founders come from a health background Madura Tea has always and will continue to develop and expand on its range of teas keeping themselves a “health tea” for their customers at all times.
At the Madura plantation a strong onus is placed on making the local environment a secure wildlife habitat. Rare and endangered Australian flora has been planted over the years which in turn have drawn native Australian animals. Koalas, tortoises, platypus, wallabies and a wide range of birdlife now call these environmental areas home.
Each package of tea averages less than 2.8% of caffeine content.
Teas contain no Tannic Acid, artificial flavoring, coloring or preservatives.
All tea is held in oxygen bleached filter paper then sealed at the plantation in barrier film to maintain superior quality and estate freshness. No glue or staples are used in the process.
Madura Specialty Large Leaf Teas
All of the following Madura Teas have been packed in beautiful gold octagonal packs with shimmering leaves of the tea plant Camellia sinensis just visible on the outside. All packs contain 25 sachets of large leaf tea held in bio degradable silk sachets. This is the ultimate way to enjoy the best teas there are to offer in the world with the ease of sachet for use in a cup or pot.
